There’s always reason to celebrate!

There’s always reason to celebrate!

So much to celebrate this week! International Day of The Girl, Ted Lasso Biscuits, and National Dessert Day!

One would think it was already Thanksgiving!

While there has been so much disruption to what we thought we knew as “Normal,” it was inspiring to hear the many young girls and women who were profiled on the morning shows in honor of International Day of The Girl, October 11th. The Today Show interviewed several young Afghan women, including Malala Yousafzai, who left their homeland in search of opportunity and rights, and to pursue their dreams. Those who have been in America for several years have achieved amazing goals and are now actively innovating to support the mothers and daughters who recently escaped the Taliban regime. Their intelligence, insights, and determination give me hope for a brighter, stronger America. The future may be different but, with all of these remarkable young women, our future will be bright.

Further reinforcing the voices of the women interviewed, were the faces of the young girls on the Today Show Plaza. Representing numerous organizations serving girls, the teen gals listened with more attention and intention than they would even have given their favorite boy band. They heard the messages of Girl Power, reaching for your dreams regardless of the obstacles, and making the world a better place.

Yes, our future is in good hands!

Switching gears - but also with a message of good hope - we have Ted Lasso, the good-guy, American football coach recruited to coach a professional “football” team in England. This Emmy award-winning show starring Jason Sudeikis as Ted, has gained an enthusiastic following along with his popular “biscuits” - or as we would call them, shortbread bars.

The biscuits have become so popular that Milk Bar, a decadent dessert bakery with stores and same-day delivery in major cities in the U.S. and Canada, offered a one-day free biscuits promotion earlier in October. Both the Today Show and GMA featured the highly successful campaign - and included the Milk Bar recipe on-screen. SFK was lucky to capture the Milk Bar Ted Lasso Biscuits recipe and we offer it up in our desserts section. It’s easy to make and delivers a rich, buttery treat to enjoy while you watch Ted, or have a Fika, or want to impress your friends. Enjoy!

Ted Lasso Biscuits are award-winning just like the TV show.

Don’t forget to celebrate National Dessert Day on Thursday, October 14th - or all year-long if you’re like me! The SFK offers some delicious treats to help you celebrate - and more to come as we enter the happiest holidays!

Ted Lasso Biscuits certainly fit in this category as well as the Carrot Cake Cupcakes and the Peaches and Cream Cake or Blueberry Sauce to top your ice cream and of course our Swedish Pepparkakor - a Swedish must-have for the holidays. Remember, desserts are not just a sweet ending to a marvelous meal. Desserts are a perfect beginning to the day and a must-have with Fika all day long. They’re guaranteed to make you smile and banish the winter blahs!
