It’s scandi fest
Scandinavian festivals are filled with beautiful, often whimsical handcrafts, music, dancing and food. You don’t even need a passport to enjoy a day in Sweden or Norway or Denmark or Finland.

Tis the season to be jammy and peaches are the perfect ingredient. It’s peach season here in the midwest and we have an abundant crop this year. The farmer’s markets are filled with juicy red havens just waiting to top off ice cream or waffles or shortcake or to mix it up in muffins or coffee cake or to be enjoyed all by themselves, one sweet bite to another.
it’s national meatball day
Ask anyone what they know about Swedish food and the answer will probably be “Swedish Meatballs” or “Kotttbullar.” Other than herring and glogg, little is quickly recognized about Swedish cuisine. So, the meatball, which is a necessary staple on every holiday buffet table, is certainly worthy of being recognized with its own holiday.
The First Harvest
My gal pals Anne and Nancy and I decided to be farmers. This decision was made last summer over several glasses of wine at a birthday party up at the cottage. Arch, a good neighbor, had been supplying us all with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, squash, and other natural wonders grown at the nearby community garden. Obviously, we needed to be a part of this sustainable, organic, back-to-nature movement.
